Aquator - Simulation of Water Resource Systems

Press release 29 August 2007

Hydro-Logic Limited and Oxford Scientific Software Limited have announced a distribution agreement for the UK and Eire where Hydro-Logic Limited sell and support the water resource system simulation software package Aquator.

Aquator is a powerful application for developing and running simulation models of natural river and water supply systems. This simulation package facilitates the construction of models comprising a range of components to represent sources, demand centres and their linkages. These components can then be customised so that simulations can be produced over a wide range of scenarios and operating rules. Systems can be simulated ranging from those with just a few components to large, detailed models comprising many hundreds of components.

The first version of Aquator was developed in 2001 for use by the Scottish Water companies and the Scottish Environment Protection Agency (SEPA). Aquator uses Microsoft® Visual Basic® for Applications (VBA) (also found in Excel® and Word®) to provide a powerful customisable modelling environment.

Some of the largest river basins in the UK are modelled using Aquator and it is used for resource planning by the Environment Agency, water companies and consultants.

Rod Hawnt, Managing Director of Hydro-Logic said:
"Aquator is a valuable addition to our software product range that underpins our provision of consultancy services for water resource modelling."

Will Clark, Commercial Director of Oxford Scientific Software said:
“Teaming with Hydro-Logic is an obvious move for us. With their expertise and presence in the market, we are confident of achieving our goal for Aquator to be the application of choice in water resource modelling."
